Yay! I finally bought my first DSLR. I'm so excited that I can't wait to take my baby camera out for a photography outing.

Initially, I was aiming at Canon EOS 50D, which costs about RM4700 now. But when Canon EOS 500D was launched, I saw that it has almost the same specifications that Canon EOS 50D has, at cheaper price! I couldn't wait till I save enough to get a 50D, so I eventually went for 500D which I think is more suitable for a beginner and amateurs like me.

Do stay tuned for photos that I took with my new toy :D

I'm going to Sean Kingston's World Tour

Guess what? I've won 4 tickets to Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" World Tour Concert, LIVE in KL! You'll never guess where I won them from. They're from Hitz.fm, Malaysia' No. 1 Hit station.

Ever since I started working, I listen to Hitz.fm everyday. Maxis Communications Berhad via its prepaid brand, Hotlink, announced its partnership with Hitz.fm to bring Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" World Tour LIVE in KL on 11th April. The teenage sensation will be performing his latest hits from 9pm to 11pm at Zouk Club, Jalan Ampang.

This morning I downloaded Sean Kingston's "Take You There" as my caller ringtone. When I heard the cue later in the afternoon, I registered myself via SMS, without the tiniest hope of winning the free tickets as I was just trying my luck.

I was tired and gloomy after all day's work. I got home, dumped my stuff on the table and got ready to take a shower. Then suddenly, my cellphone rang. I looked at the unknown number on the screen, thinking: "Who could it be?", not even a nanosecond of thought that that call was from Hitz.fm.

I answered doubtfully: "Hello?" A pleasant male voice was on the other side said: "Hi! Is this Shirley?" I said yes. Then the rest of the conversation sent me into an utter disbelief...

That guy said in a rather fast pace, which I found myself hard to catch up: "Hi, Shirley! This is Ean from Hitz.fm. You've just won 4 tickets to Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" World Tour LIVE in KL!". Upon hearing that, I was jumping and screaming with excitement. I thanked him and he asked me if I would want 4 more tickets. He said I could get the other 4 if I could provide him the name and IC number of a friend. Then, he said he would call me back to obtain the details. And he DID! But my friend didn't receive any call from Hitz.fm. Hope they'll call her tomorrow :)

I was hoping to get the tickets to Celine Dion's "Taking Chances" World Tour Concert, but I got the ones to Sean Kingston's instead. Oh well, at least better than nothing. KL, here I come! *jumping with joy*

Rest in peace, granny...

Before I continue blogging about my Bangkok trip, I would like to take this opportunity to grieve the loss of my paternal grandmother, who had just passed away yesterday morning. She died peacefully in her sleep on her cozy bed, at the age of 88.

She was a strong woman, who fought for her life, to put food on the table and feed 9 children. It was very tough to support such a big family at the times of wars and chaos. But, she remained positive and gave the best to her children.

She was fortunate to have lived till such an old age because she had seen her children grow up to become successful adults, build families of their own, and have kids. This year's Chinese New Year won't be the same anymore without her. Now, apparently the festive mood is gradually fading away even though CNY is just around the corner. Nevertheless, the rest of us must move on and pray that she will rest in peace...

Ok! Enough with the sad story. I hate to end a post with an unhappy ending. So, here's a little something just for laughs. Yesterday afternoon, I watched an American show called The Ellen Show, hosted by...Of course, Ellen DeGeneres herself. I love her show! She's so funny and she has a great sense of humour.

She started the show by telling a factual joke. She said that according to a study, a man who stares at a woman's breasts for 10 minutes a day can live 5 years longer. Haha! XD Well, all the guys out there! If you want to live longer, it's worth a try. But, my piece of advice is, use your time wisely. Get what I mean? ;)
